Wee, Starcraft finally gets no cd.

January 22nd, 2008 . by Fudouri

I was randomly looking around and saw there was a new Starcraft patch.

1.15. Naturally, I wondered what in the world they could change in the patch. Well, it turns out, finally, finally, they are removing the requirement of having the CD in to be able to play.

Now, I recently bought starcraft and was replaying it. I was suffering through the horrendously low resolution, and low rez sprites and enjoying myself, but one day, i had removed the CD and no longer could play (i’m too lazy to put the CD back in), and haven’t gone to it since.

No-CD patches have been around almost as fast as patches have been coming out, quite frankly, the “CD check” is one of the most annoying experiences with computer gaming in general (and as i recently found, console gaming as well). If there was one thing that makes me belive DLC will eventually win out, its just the laziness to change discs.
